Alerts Council has received from Government Departments that may interest members of the public ie Scamwatch. Blue Green Algae Alerts - May 09 - Published: 14 May 2009Tests have revealed the presence of high levels of Blue Green Algae in the Edward River at Moulamein and Wakool River at Kyalite. Department of Water and Energy have issued High Level Red Alerts. This alert level warning indicates that waters are unsuitable for recreational use or primary contact by domestic users and may also pose a threat to livestock.
The former red alert, has been downgraded to an Amber alert for the Murray River at Barham, Tooleybuc and Murray Downs - however caution with regard to use of this water is still required.
For more information click here more ..National Spot the Rabbit Campaign - Published: 14 May 2009 Residents are being encouraged to join a national challenge to record data about rabbits, from at least 5000 sites across Australia. May is RabbitScan month, and individuals and groups in the area can help scientists map rabbit populations by scanning their local area for rabbits and signs of their damage, and adding that to a Google Map.
