Engineering ServicesThe Engineering Services Section has a budget of approximately $7M, which covers a broad range of works on Regional Roads, Local Roads and the Roads to Recovery Grants, General Maintenance to towns, parks, reserves and bridges. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the Engineering Services Department is to ensure that the construction and maintenance of works are carried out in an effective and efficient manner by providing professional design, project management and administrative services. Council has seventy five (75) bridges, forty five (45) of these being of timber construction and tries to replace two (2) bridges per year, utilising a combination of it's own labour and contract. The Engineering Services Department is headed by Manager of Engineering Services Mr Brian Ebery and consists of a Design Engineer, Technical Officer, Works Officer North and Works Officer South, Project Officer and approximately thirty five (35) outdoor staff. The Works Officer South is located at the Barham end of the Shire. Areas of responsibility for this Department include, but are not limited to: Roads - maintenance and construction. Bridges - maintenance and construction, also including bridge lifts. Parks, Street, Signs, Cemetery Operations - in conjunction with Councils records clerk, Drainage, Litter - Gross Pollutant Traps, Quarries/Mines, Trees, Noxious Weeds, Plant, Workshop, Safety, Flood Mitigation, Asset Management, Survey/Design, Engineering Assessments, Traffic Control Policy Formation and Traffic Committee Organisation. PERFORMANCE TARGETS: Engineering designs to be completed in accordance with a pre-determined program and budget. Maintain a satisfactory level of staff competency levels, technology and equipment. STATEMENT OF MEANS: Provide necessary level of financial, human, technological and physicals resources. PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT: Works completed effectively and efficiently in accordance with programs.
